Proper steel is important when choosing knives.

Kniv.no uses only high quality steel and hardness in all our knives.

Yamagata Pro E Series : 67 layers of Damask made of VG-10 steel. Nitrogen cooled in the curing process to achieve 63 HRC (Hardness Rockwell C

Gujo Pro Series: 67 layers of Damask made of VG-10 steel. Cooling in ice water in the curing process to achieve 62 HRC (Hardness Rockwell C

Seki Series: 67 layers of Damask made of VG-10 steel, 60 HRC (Hardness Rockwell C

Otaki Series: Japanese 440C steel with a hardness of 58HRC. It gives the knife a very hard knife edge that lasts a long time, easy to maintain and a durable finish.

VG-10 steel:

VG-10 is stainless steel made in Japan. The name stands for V Gold 10 "gold" which means quality, or sometimes V-Kin-10 V 金 10 号 kin means "gold" in Japanese. It is a stainless steel with a high carbon content that contains 1 carbon, 15 chromium, 1 molybdenum, 0.2 vanadium and 1.5 cobalt.,5% kobolt.

VG-10 stainless steel was originally designed by Takefu Special Steel Co. Ltd., based in Takefu, Fukui Prefecture, Japan the former center for cutlery / sword production in Echizen. VG-10 was originally aimed at Japanese chefs, but also found its way into hunting and outdoor knives.r.

JPN 440C:

JPN 440C mArtensitic stainless steel is a stainless steel that maintains martensitic microstructure at room temperature, the properties of which can be adjusted by heat treatment quenching and curing.). In general, it is a kind of hardenable stainless steel. After quenching, curing and annealing, the hardness of 440C stainless steel has been significantly improved than for other stainless and heat-resistant steels. It is often used in the manufacture ofcutting tools that require high loads and abrasion resistance under corrosive conditions.

Steel is commonly used to produce corrosion-resistant parts such as knives, gauges, shafts, valves and components that require corrosion and resistance to thin oxidizing acids, organic acids and salts.
